BOBO

He is a very slight little man in a not too prosperous business suit. He has haunted frightened eyes and a hat. He is a very emotional poor man who depends on others due to his low-self esteem. Bobo was most like a toy that never got taken seriously due to all the things he been involved with before. He always depends on others in order to make his dreams come true. He never takes a step ahead and does things on his own when it comes to business and money issues. As he would say often “When a cat take off with your money he don’t leave you no road maps!” I picked Marlon Wayans who plays the role of Calvin on the film Little Man to play the role of Bobo due to the fact that they are both extremely short and the characteristics of each one fits great each other great.

Karl Lindner

He is a quiet-looking middle-aged white man in a business suit holding his hat and a brief case in his hand and consulting a small piece of paper. He is a great actor due to all the lies he makes people believe. He acts like he has power and authority due to all the knowledge he gained in school and other places. He is very confident and knows about his business just enough to make people believe on his words. He has the appearance of an intelligent man. As Lindner would say “there is always somebody who is out to take advantage of people who don’t always understand.” I picked Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger to play the role of Karl Lindner due to the fact that he is a great actor and he could act great no matter what type of character he has to be he always does a great job when it comes to acting and I think that the role of Lindner would fit him perfectly.

George Murchison

He is a very intelligent, middle class, proud and rich man. He takes advantage of his knowledge to embarrass others. He basically goes to school to get by in classes, pass his courses and learn facts. However, he does not believe that he could make a change in life. He is also very honest, hurtful and realistic towards others beliefs. As George would tell Beneatha “you’re a nice-looking girl…all over. That’s all you need, honey, forget the atmosphere.” Also he would usually say “I want a nice, simple, sophisticated girl…not a poet.” I picked Clifford Joseph Harris, Jr. or as many people know him by his stage name T.I. to play George Murchinson role due to the fact that he is a great actor and he is very sophisticated as well. I think the role of Murchison would fit him perfectly.

Joseph Asagai

He is Nigerian from Africa, He is very idealist, but at the same time practical. His motivations are Beneatha whom he likes and a better future for his country. He is a very adventurous man who likes to take risks and never gives up on his dreams or anything he wants to do in life. Asagai has feelings for Beneatha whom he admires due to all the ideas and thoughts she always shares with him. He wants to take away to Africa so she could help him cure people and so she could realize her dreams of becoming a doctor. He would often tell Beneatha that “One for whom bread food is not enough” and also he told her once “never be afraid to sit awhile and think” I picked Will Smith who plays the role of Tim Thomas on the film Seven Pound to play the role of Asagai. I believe that the personality and character of Asagai and Will Smith are very similar due to their dreams of helping others which is why he will be the best person to play the role of Asagai.

Lena Younger (Mama)

She is a woman in her early sixties, full-bodied and strong. She is one of those women of a certain grace and beauty who wear it unobtrusively that it takes a while to notice. Her dark brown hair is surrounded by the total whiteness of her hair, and being a woman who has adjusted to many things in life and over-come many more, her face is full of strength. She has a strong faith and she still keep her eyes lit and full of interest and expectancy. She is a beautiful woman and her speech is careless as her carriage is precise. However, her voice is not so much quiet as simply soft. She loves the garden very much. Her motivations are her family and the middle class working people. However, her family is very important to her. She has anger problems and at times problems solutions get physical. She is also more like a life giver and a problem fixer. However, she is a domestic worker. Her husband passed away due to working himself to death. As she would often say “There is always something left to love. And if you ain’t learned that, you ain’t learned nothing. The time to love somebody is not when they are in a good is when they are in a bad position.” She also said the following when her son stood up for himself for the first time like a man would, “He finally come into his manhood today, didn’t he? Kind of like a rainbow after the rain.” I picked Malcolm Turner who plays the role of Martin Lawrence who disguises as Big Momma in the film Big Momma’s House 2 to play the role of Lena Younger (Mama). I believe that he is just the great person to play the understandable role which Lena played on the play due to his experiences when it comes to playing an elderly lady role.

Beneatha Younger

She is about twenty, as slim and intense as her brother Walter. She is not as pretty as her sister-in-law, but her lean, almost intellectual face has a handsomeness of its own. She wears a bright red flannel nightie, and her thick hair stands wildly about her head. Her speech is a mixture of many things; it is different from the rest of the family insofar as education has permeated her sense of English. She is in college. Her motivations are to cure people and to find her identity in order to do so she cut her hair. Her confidence, her sarcastic personality and her superior attitude are what make her unique. Her confidence was so strong that one time she told to her whole family that “I am going to be a doctor and everybody around here better understand that.” I picked Onika Tanya Maraj or as many know her for her stage name Nicki Minaj to play the role of Beneatha Younger due to their ambition towards success and the willing to do anything it takes to get to where they want to be and for the fact that they both have a great confidence which is not found in many people.

Walter Lee Younger

He is a lean, intense young man in his middle thirties, inclined to quick nervous movements and erratic speech habits and always in his voice there is a quality of indictment. His motivation is Travis and his family respect; he wants to be the man of the house and the provider. He is very insecure about himself and he has no confidence on himself so he wants to feel good by making others feel bad. He is also a chauffeur for a rich man. As he says “gamble big, win big.” Also the most important thing which he said at the end when he stood up for himself against Lindner was “we are very proud people. And that’s my sister over there and she’s going to be a doctor and we are very proud...This is my son, and he makes the sixth generation of our family in this country…we have decided to move into our house because my father earned it for us brick by brick…we don’t want your money.” I picked Albert Rice who plays the role of Eddie Murphy on the film Norbit to play Walter Lee Younger role, I think that the role in the play and in the movie that this different actors had to play are very similar and I think is a good idea if Albert Rice plays this role.

Travis Younger

He is a sturdy, handsome little boy of ten or eleven, he wakes up very early everyday to shower and go to school on time. He cares a lot about his education and his family. His motivations are his father and his grandmother. He wants to be a bus driver just like his father when he gets older.  His actions speak louder than many words. He was very different than many other children who would play around all day without thinking about their financial situation. Travis was very concern about his financial needs and he would sacrifice his time in order to make some money; he would usually ask his mother “Mama, could I please go carry groceries.”  I picked Tyler James Williams who plays the role of Chris the protagonist of everybody hates Chris to play Travis role. I believe that they are just alike Tyler James just like Travis is very ambitious, way too normal, responsible most of the times, kind-hearted with everybody, but unlucky, not too popular, pretty much like a nerd and a very vulnerable child. The role of Travis fits Tyler James perfectly.

Ruth Younger

She is 30 years old. Once she was pretty meaning that she is becoming old before her time due to all the worries she has. Her motivations are to keep her family together and try to save her marriage. Mostly she is like a settled-woman among her people. She is very practical and the type of woman who is a mediator. She is also a domestic worker. Ruth would always try to be the mediator when it came to family issues and problems. As she would tell Lena often “you got good children, Lena. They just a little off sometimes but they’re good.” I picked Tichina Arnold who plays the role of Rochelle in everybody hates Chris to play the role of Ruth. She is the intimidating, short-tempered, cranky, ghetto-snobbish and humorously sassy mother just like Ruth. I think that she would play Ruth’s role well due to their personality, attitude and way of doing things.
